Tarokar Mrityu: Ranjit Mallick, Ritwick Chakraborty and Parno Mittrah gear up for a thriller

Over the years, veteran actor Ranjit Mallick took a backseat as his daughter Koel Mallick ruled the industry. Now the actor is back again. After the release of his film Love Marriage by Premendu Bikash Chaki, the actor is now all set with his new film with Ritwick Chakraborty and Parno Mittrah in Haranath Chakraborty’s Tarokar Mrityu.

Haranath – the veteran director – has given many blockbuster family dramas but not a single detective movie. The new film, based on a thought by Hindol Chakraborty, will fill up the gap. The film will be produced by Surinder Films. Hindol told Aajkaal Dot In that Ranjit Mallick’s character’s name is Rajen Mitra, who will investigate a mysterious death along with Ritwick Chakraborty and Parno Mitra. 

Ranjit also wanted to play different types and looks. He was happy to play Rajen Mitra. It was decided that his appearance would be changed. His famous mustache – almost his identifier – would be removed and the hair would be dyed white. The veteran actor was elated at his new look. In the film, Ritwick is a scriptwriter and Parno is a teacher. They go to a hill station after their wedding. A sudden mysterious death happens there and Ranjit comes to solve it. The writer said, “It is not a so-called detective story, but rather a thriller.” Anindya Pulak Banerjee, Priyanka Mondal, and Soham Majumder will play other roles.

How much did Haranath enjoy making a thriller? Hindol said, “My father first made a film in this genre in 2017. The film’s name is Katay Katay, based on the book of the same name by Narayan Sanyal. The film was not released. Ranjit Mallick played P K Basu in the film. Hence, this is my father’s second film in this genre. But Tarokar Mrityu is the first film to get released.” 

Padmanabha Dasgupta wrote the story, screenplay, and dialogue. Hindol is the executive director. Supriya Dutta is the DoP and Nabarun Basu did the background scoring. The film, a hundred minutes in length, is being released on September 29. There is no song in the film. If everything goes fine, Katay Katay will be released next year.
