Avengers-actor Mark Ruffalo’s latest work for television is a 7-episode miniseries created by Brad Ingelsby, the man behind Kate Middleton’s Mare of Easttown. Called Task, the crime drama set in Philadelphia has Ruffalo as an FBI agent heading a task force that’s tracking down the perpetrators of a string of violent robberies. The show is set to premiere online shortly.
Task will be available to audiences in India on JioHotstar (via OTTplay Premium too) from September 7, with weekly episode drops. Written and directed by Inglesby, the show also stars Tom Pelphrey, Emilia Jones, Thuso Mbedu, Raul Castillo, Jamie McShane, Sam Keeley, Fabien Frankel, Alison Oliver, Mickey Sumner, Brian Goodman, Owen Teague, and many others.
While Ruffalo’s FBI agent Tom heads the task force investigating robberies, Pelphrey is Robbie, the gangleader behind the crimes that the former is looking into. The official logline of the show reads, “Set in the working-class suburbs of Philadelphia, an FBI agent (Mark Ruffalo) heads a Task Force to put an end to a string of violent robberies led by an unsuspecting family man (Tom Pelphrey).”
Following nine grisly home invasions, Tom is put in charge of a team of relatively inexperienced agents. The show follows not only Tom’s investigation and his family dynamics, but also Robbie’s point of view as to why he does what he does.
Ruffalo was last seen in the sci-fi black comedy Mickey 17, directed by Bong Joon Ho, which has Robert Pattinson in the lead. It is currently available on JioHotstar. As far as television shows go, his last was All The Light We Cannot See. The actor, who plays Bruce Banner/Hulk in the Avengers’ movies, will next be seen reprising the character in the new Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man Brand New Day, set for theatrical release in July 2026.
