Teja Sajja has been making giant strides as a lead actor in 2021. While his first film as a solo lead, Zombie Reddy, directed by Prasanth Varma, opened to positive responses, his next film, Ishq (Not a Love Story), is gearing up for a theatrical release on July 30. Ishq is an official remake of a Malayalam hit (by the same name) directed by SS Raju, where Teja pairs up alongside Priya Prakash Varrier, the 'wink' girl who made her Telugu debut with Nithiin-starrer Check this year. Ahead of Ishq's release, the makers unveiled a new trailer of the film.

Teja is introduced as a next-door boy Siddhu who falls in love with a young girl. Siddhu has a few special plans in store for his love interest's birthday and they seem to be having a jolly good time until all hell breaks loose. Siddhu enters a middle-class household whose atmosphere he gets increasingly suspicious about. There are some twists and turns in store that leaves Siddhu shocked beyond belief. How do the dots connect? Is this even a boy-meets-girl story? Ishq teases you with a few intriguing glimpses of the film.

The makers, Mega Super Good Films, believe that the remake will have something new to offer audiences beyond the original. The film will release in theatres on the same day as Satyadev's courtroom thriller Thimmarusu and a small-budgeted action drama Narasimha Puram. Teja Sajja had also acted in the 2019-hit Oh Baby starring Lakshmi, Samantha Akkineni in the lead roles. He'll next be seen in the superhero franchise Hanu-Man helmed by Prasanth Varma. The Malayalam version of Ishq is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
