Telugu film HanuMan has reportedly made more money on its first day in India than Merry Christmas, starring Vijay Sethupathi, with ₹ 11.91 crore. The nation's audiences are also giving the Teja Sajja-starrer tremendous praise for its performances and visual appeal. With other major releases on the same day that saw great anticipation, the film's success is even more surprising.

Moreover, HanuMan has amassed $550,000 and is on track to reach $1 million on its debut day in the USA. Over 1000 shows premiered on the first day across India, with 766 shows completely sold out. On BookMyShow, the 2-hour, 38-minute movie has garnered 9.7 out of 10 ratings. Apart from Telugu, the film is also available in Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi, and Kannada.

On January 12, HanuMan released alongside big films like Mahesh Babu's Guntur Kaaram and Merry Christmas. Sriram Raghavan’s thriller film Merry Christmas made ₹2.55 crore on its first day of release in theatres in India, while Guntur Kaaram made about ₹ 50 crore.

Film industry veterans from Telugu have emphasised that while all Sankranthi releases might have strong openings, it's imperative that the film's buzz extends beyond the festive weekend and draws audiences. All the Sankranthi films have at least three weeks to establish their value, and no significant releases have been scheduled until the end of January.
