Baahubali, one of the biggest hits in Indian cinema, was released in two parts. The trend that Baahubali created continued with films like KGF. Of late, this trend has caught on quite well in Tollywood and now, half a dozen films in Telugu will be released in two or three parts in the next two years.

We spoke to one of the producers in Tollywood to ask about this new trend. He says that releasing big films in two parts is being done just for commercial purposes. The producers are forcing the directors to pen scripts in such a way that the film can be made in two parts. Once the film is released in two parts, the business related to OTT, satellite, audio, and various other rights of the film will fetch big money for the producers, says our source.

When it comes to the stars, they are also demanding big bucks as they are working on two parts. But there are also a few directors like Sukumar who feel that a story like Pushpa cannot be narrated in one part. Pushpa 2 is one of the most-awaited sequels and will open hugely in the days to come.

Whatever is said and done, releasing a film in two parts is the latest trend, and let's look at a few Telugu films that will be out in multiple parts in the days to come.

Pushpa 2

Sukumar has directed the first part on a very entertaining note and the second part will showcase the rise of Pushparaj, the sandalwood smuggler. Pushpa 2 will be released on August 15, 2024.

Jr NTR has teamed up with Koratala Siva for an action drama. A few days ago, the makers revealed that Deveara would also be released in two parts. The first part will be out in April 2024. Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan play key roles in this film, which has music by Anirudh Ravichander.

Polimera 3

Polimer was a surprise hit on OTT. The sequel to this film is playing in theatres as of now. The makers revealed a few days ago that the third part is also getting ready and will be out in the summer of 2024. Satyam Rajesh plays the main lead.

Pedha Kapu

Director Srikanth Addala, who is known to make family dramas, tried his hand at action with Pedha Kapu. The film was announced to be released in two parts. After the failure of the first part, the makers have dropped the plan of releasing the second part in theatres. Plans to release the sequel on OTT are on as of now.

OG

Pawan Kalyan stars in OG, which is being directed by Sujeeth of Saaho fame. This action drama set in Mumbai will also be released in two parts, as per the team members. The shooting of the first part is yet to be wrapped up.

Tillu Square

Siddhu Jonnalagadda became an overnight sensation with the film DJ Tillu. The makers decided to release this film in multiple parts and the second part will be out on February 9, 2024. Anupama Parameswaran plays the female lead.

Double Ismart

Puri Jagan gave hero Ram Pothineni a massive hit with Ismart Shankar. Well, the sequel to this film is on the way as of now. As per the update, the action drama will release in the first half of 2024. Sanjay Dutt plays the main villain in this film.

Goodachari 2

Last but not least, Adivi Sesh will soon start working on his action drama, Goodachari 2. This film is the sequel to his hit film Goodachari, which had Jagapathi Babu in a key role. Adivi Sesh has himself penned the story of this film.

With just a few examples quoted above, one could easily say that in the days to come, Telugu cinema will see a number of films being released in two or three parts. The franchise culture has also caught on quite well, giving birth to many films being made to just cash in on the success of their first parts. We need to see how much the audience will love these films in the days to come. Stay tuned.
