The first season of Telugu Indian Idol, one of aha’s most-watched reality shows, has come to a close. Chiranjeevi was the chief guest of the tightly-fought grand finale that was also graced by Virata Parvam lead pair Rana Daggubati and Sai Pallavi. A clear favourite for the title since the very beginning, BVK Vagdevi was declared the first-ever Telugu Indian Idol.
Vagdevi not only won prize money of Rs 10 lakh but also bagged the opportunity to sing for an upcoming film to be produced by Geetha Arts. Based out of Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, Vagdevi was a consistent frontrunner during the show’s 15-week run. The show’s judges composer Thaman, actress Nitya Menon and singer Karthik were at their best boosting the contestants' morale.
Talking about her win, Vadgdevi thanked aha for providing a platform like Telugu Indian Idol, the judges, mentors and crowds for their immense support for over 15 weeks on the show. She felt that her rigorous effort over the past few months has finally paid off and that she would be indebted to Geetha Arts for the singing opportunity.
Sreenivas and Vaishnavi were the first and second runners-up and were awarded cheques of Rs. 3 lakh and Rs 2 lakh respectively. Vaishnavi too went back home with a surprise - a golden opportunity to sing in Chiranjeevi’s Godfather. The first season of this show is hosted by actor, singer Sreerama Chandra, a former winner of Indian Idol season 5.
Congratulating Vagdevi for her fantastic victory, Ajit Thakur, aha’s CEO opined that Telugu Indian Idol is a great platform for singing talents to flourish and expressed his happiness in bringing the Indian Idol down South for the first time. The show was sponsored by Zepto, Chandana Brothers, Tenali Double Horse, and Happi Mobiles.
