Tera Kya Hoga Lovely theatrical release date – Watch the sharp, funny satire of India’s fairness obsession on THIS day

Tera Kya Hoga Lovely is all set for its theatrical release this month. Directed by Balwinder Singh Janjua, the film is a funny and poignant social commentary on the evils still plaguing India, like dowry, obsession with fairness, and judging women based on to their looks and skin colour.

Produced by Sony Pictures, the trailer for the film was released on February 27. Tera Kya Hoga Lovely will enjoy a theatrical release in India on March 8, coinciding with International Women's Day. The film follows the tale of the Lovely, played by Ileana D’Cruz, who faces familial barriers, racial discrimination and regular public humiliation. Why? Because she is considered "dark" when compared to honey-hued Indians.

The trailer shows a similar skin-tone downscaling that Bhumi Pednekar exhibited in Bala. However, the film is heartwarming and entertaining for its feminist assertions. Lovely wishes to be more than a foundation shade and a burden on her family.

But even her adoring father believes her limits lie in her dwindling marital prospects and her "wheatish complexion". After securing an alliance with the promise of extra dowry, calamity strikes when Lovely and her family are robbed of it just before the wedding. Or does it? Because Randeep Hooda enters the scene as a brave, sincere police officer who falls for Lovely, not caring about her skin tone and family drama.

And now comes the triple conflict. Not only must Randeep Hooda solve the case, but he and Lovely must impress and convince both sets of parents in order to end up together. Oh, and let's not forget the additional conflict, thanks to potent and hilarious misunderstandings.
