Written and directed by Amit Joshi and Aradhana Sah, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya portrays a unique love story between a human and a robot . No wonder, the film has already generated a buzz over its modern, technological take on love and romance. Interestingly, it’s the film’s female lead Kriti Sanon who plays the robot and captures the protagonist Shahid Kapoor’s heart in this enthralling story. The film’s trailer, that released about two weeks ago, gave the viewers a compelling peek into the movie’s storyline as Shahid asks Kriti during a conversation “Tum ladki ho ya Alladin ka chirag?” (Are you a girl or Alladin’s lamp?). Here are five reasons why you should watch the film that opens in theatres tomorrow.
Unique love story
Slowly and steadily, Kriti Sanon made a place for herself in the hearts of Indian audiences. Her compelling award-winning performances in Mimi and Heropanti are proof. Unsurprisingly, it’s the same Kriti who has dared to become the first female Bollywood actor to play a robot on the 70 mm screen. In Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, she portrays Sifra, a character who falls in love with Aryan (Shahid Kapoor). Aryan finds it difficult to find the right life partner until he meets Sifra—a female who seems to fit the bill—while on a business assignment in the US. He quickly discovers that their love tale is unrealistic as — Sifra is actually a robot. We'll have to wait and watch if a human-robot relationship overcomes these obstacles and turns into an impossibly romantic tale.
Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon pair up together for the first time
Quirky and strange as the plot is, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya is also special since it marks the first-ever on-screen pairing of two immensely talented actors – Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon – as the movie’s lead pair. In fact, the powerful chemistry between the duo is clearly visible in the trailer itself. Kriti had revealed at the Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya trailer launch event that she had been itching to work on a romantic movie and that this opportunity to act alongside Shahid presented itself at just the right moment. Moreover, the audience will get to see Shahid in his good old chocolate boy avatar on the screen after a long hiatus.
A delightful ensemble cast
Shahid and Kriti might have captured hearts with their quirky dialogues and facial expressions in the trailer already; however, the secret sauce of this movie’s success lies in its veteran and entertaining ensemble cast. The iconic casting of Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya also includes Dharmendra, Ashish Verma, Rajesh Kumar, Rakesh Bedi, and Dimple Kapadia, along with Arjun Panchal and Anubha Fatehpura in significantly carved out roles. Isn’t that an icing on the cake to watch these wonderful people share the same screen adding their own individual touch to the film? We bet it sure is.
Soulful songs of Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya
The groovy title track from the film was released recently. Shahid and Kriti lit up the screen with their perfectly synced steps and well-coordinated facial expressions, adding poise and panache to the title song. Like the movie trailer, the title track hints at an impossible love story brought to life, thanks to artificial intelligence. The Canadian singer Raghav's 2004 album Storyteller featured a version of the song Teri Baaton, which is the third and title track Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. Raghav, Tanishk, and Asees Kaur have sung the song, which has lyrics written by Tanishk Bagchi.
Apart from this, the song Laal Peeli Akhiyaan is an adaptation of a Rajasthani song by the same name. Neeraj Rajawat penned the lyrics for the track, which is sung by Tanishk Bagchi and Romy. The third song Akhiyaan Gulab is a revamped version of the song Gulaab by Mitraz who has penned the lyrics as well as rendered the vocals. The fourth and last track Tum Se has been sung by Sachin-Jigar, Varun Jain, and Raghav Chaitanya.
