We had earlier reported that actors Madhavan, Nayanthara and Siddharth will be starring in a Tamil film titled Test, which will be a cricket-based sports drama. The film will be opting for direct-to-OTT premiere and will stream on Netflix. Ahead of release, the makers released the character promo of Siddharth, who will be playing a seasoned batsman called Arjun.
The Tamil film Test with actors Madhavan, Nayanthara and Siddharth will be opting for direct OTT premiere on Netflix, and that is something we have already reported. The latest is that international test cricketer R. Ashwin released the character promo of Arjun being portrayed by his friend Siddharth in the upcoming film.
The teaser shows Arjun as a seasoned batsman, who has been out of form lately. He is asked to retire by the counsel. It is at this time, when Siddharth goes through an emotional turmoil and finds a chance to bounce back. Calling himself a soldier, he is desperate to play a match to prove his worth.
For Arjun, cricket is more than a game—it’s his identity, his purpose, and his greatest challenge. But when the lines blur between personal duty and professional glory, he faces the real Test. Cricket is not a new phenomenon to Indians, who have been hooked on to the game for decades now. Test will be the latest entry to the cricket-based dramas made in India. Tamil cinema, in particular, has hit cricket films like Chennai 28 on OTTplay Premium, which has resonated with the audience.
Speaking about his character, Siddharth shares, “Arjun’s story is one of passion and sacrifice. He’s not just playing for himself—he’s playing for the country, carrying the weight of expectations, the love for the game, and the battle between his dreams and reality. TEST is more than just a sports film; it’s about the choices that define us.”
Test is set to premiere directly on Netflix on April 4. The film is written and directed by producer S Sashikanth who is making his directorial debut. He is also backing the film along with Chakravarthy Ramachandra under YNOT Studios Production.
The film marks Netflix's first original Tamil release of the year and features music by debut composer Shakthishree Gopalan. Test will be available in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi languages.
