The skies will echo with the whirring sound of Leatherface’s chainsaw yet again as the iconic killer is gearing up for a return to screens in the upcoming film, Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The trailer for the Netflix film was unveiled recently by the streaming giant and it promises all the blood and gore that made the franchise so popular among horror fans.
The trailer shows a group of friends make their way to Harlow, a ghost town, with the intention of revitalising it and turning it into a hub for people who want ‘a fresh start’. But their plans go awry when they stumble upon an old house in the town, and become terrorised by Leatherface who goes on a killing spree yet again. News of Leatherface’s return reaches Sally Hardesty, the only survivor of the killer from the 1974 film, who decides to exact revenge on the maniac for what he did to her family.
The upcoming movie will be a direct sequel to the 1974 film, which had been the first instalment in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise. John Larroquette, who had served as the narrator on the original film, will also narrate the upcoming movie.
The Netflix film stars Elsie Fisher opposite Sarah Yarkin, Mark Burnham, Jacob Latimore, Moe Dunford, Olwen Fouéré, Alice Krige, Jessica Allain and Nell Hudson. David Blue Garcia has directed the film, from a screenplay written by Chris Thomas Devlin. The film is produced by Fede Álvarez, known for his work on Evil Dead and Don’t Breathe.
