Leatherface reappears after nearly 50 years in hiding to terrorise a group of idealistic young friends who accidentally disrupt his carefully shielded world in a remote Texas town. The trailer for the Netflix original film Texas Chainsaw Massacre is out, and it gives a glimpse into the mind of the mentally impaired cannibal who was originally played by the late actor Gunnar Hansen. The sole survivor of the 1973 massacre, Sally Hardesty, played by Olwen Fouéré, is also a part of the film and is on a revenge spree.
Talking about the premise of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Melody (Sarah Yarkin), her teenage sister Lila (Elsie Fisher), and their friends Dante (Jacob Latimore) and Ruth (Nell Hudson) travel to Harlow, Texas, to launch an idealistic new business venture.
However, their dream quickly turns into a waking nightmare when they accidentally disrupt the home of Leatherface, the deranged serial killer whose blood-soaked legacy continues to haunt the area's residents, including Sally Hardesty (Olwen Fouéré), the sole survivor of his infamous 1973 massacre, who is hell-bent on vengeance.
This is the ninth instalment in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise after The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974), The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986), Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III (1990), Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation (1995), The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (2006), Texas Chainsaw 3D (2013), and Leatherface (2017).
The slasher film is directed by David Blue Garcia, while the screenplay is by Chris Thomas Devlin. It is based on the original story by Fede lvarez and Rodolfo Sayagues. The film is supposedly the direct sequel to the 1974 film The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, directed by Tobe Hooper.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre is set to stream on Netflix on February 18, 2022.
