Thaai Kelavi from Dhanush's Thiruchitrambalam garners 2.8 million views on YouTube in less than a day

The official lyrical video of the peppy song, Thaai Kelavi, from director Mithran R Jawahar's upcoming film, Thiruchitrambalam, featuring Dhanush in the lead, has garnered a whopping 2.3 million views within a day of being released on YouTube.

Thaai Kelavi, set to tunes by Anirudh Ravichander, marks the first collaboration between Dhanush and Anirudh after seven years. They last worked on Thanga Magan, in 2015.

Written and sung by Dhanush, the song instantly drew attention, with over 1.68 lakh people giving it the thumbs-up sign on YouTube.

Thiruchitrambalam is directed by Mithran Jawahar, who directed Dhanush in Yaaradi Nee Mohini, Kutty and Uthamaputhiran.

The makers had been unveiling character posters of the actors, a week ago.

Thiruchitrambalam features Raashi Khanna, Nithya Menen, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Prakash Raj, and Bharathiraja, in key roles. While Dhanush plays the titular role, director Bharathiraja plays the role of senior Thiruchitrambalam.

Nithya Menen plays Shobana; Thiruchitrambalam's best friend. While Prakash Raj plays a strict inspector, Neelakandan; Bhavani Shankar plays Ranjani, a village lass. Notably, Raashi Khanna, the female lead, plays Anusha, Dhanush's high school friend.

Prakash Raj, who plays a pivotal role in the film, too has tweeted about the experience of working on this film.

Thiruchitrambalam has cinematography by Om Prakash and editing by GK Prasanna.

Bankrolled by Sun Pictures' Kalanithi Maran, it has been a while since a Dhanush film was released in theatres. After Karnan, the actor's recent projects, Jagame Thandhiram, Atrangi Re and Maaran, opted for the OTT ones.

Thiruchitrambalam, a family drama, will be hitting screens on August 18.

On the other hand, Dhanush is awaiting the release of The Gray Man, which will premiere on Netflix, next month. Apart from this, he has Selvaraghavan's Naane Varuven, the Tamil-Telugu bilingual Vaathi/Sir, and an untitled project with Arun Matheswaran, in his kitty.
