The theatrical release of the upcoming Malayalam film Thaanara, starring Shine Tom Chacko, Deepti Sati, and Aju Varghese in the lead roles, has been postponed. The movie is now slated to hit the big screen on August 23. Although the producers have not stated why the release was delayed, it is reasonable to assume that it was because of the mourning for the lives lost in the tragic Wayanad landslides.
On August 2, a few Malayalam films were supposed to be released in theatres; however, those plans were shelved. The reason for the delay is the heavy rains that are battering parts of the state and the landslides in Wayanad that claimed hundreds of lives on July 30.
The film's trailer, which teases both the main characters and the plot, was just released by the producers. The trailer teases some of the funnier moments in the movie. This two-minute, five-second video shows the hilarious events that happened in the lives of two married young men after Sradha (played by Deepti Sati) arrived. Aju Varghese plays police officer James Bond in the film.
This upcoming film is directed by debutant Haridas, and the screenplay was written by Raffi. Sneha Babu, Angel Shijoy, Vishnu Unnikrishnan, and Chinnu Chandni Nair have supporting roles in Thaanara. B K Harinarayanan wrote the lyrics and Gopi Sundar composed the music for the film. This film, which is being funded by Biju V Mathai, was filmed by Vishnu Narayanan.
Many intriguing Malayalam films are scheduled to release in August, with a number of them having their premieres on August 23. The date will mark the big screen premiere of Saiju Kurup's first production, Bharathanatyam. The same day will see Meera Jasmine's Paalum Pazhavum and Mr. & Mrs. Bachelor, starring Indrajith Sukumaran, opening in theatres. Bhavana's horror thriller will now be released on August 23 instead of the earlier announced date. Theatres are scheduled to see Vineeth Sreenivasan's film Oru Jaathi Jathakam on August 22.
