Sundar C's long-delayed Thalainagaram 2 is all set to hit screens on June 23. The film, written and directed by Dhorai VZ, is a sequel to Thalai Nagaram (2006). Pallak Lalwani plays the leading lady in the film. Sundar C reprises his character Rightu from the original, however, this time around, the actor will be seen in a much more violent, blood-spattering avatar.
Going by the film's trailer, which was released recently, a bunch of ruffians seem to be all set to take revenge on Rightu, who is a hurdle to them and Rightu takes them on single-handedly, with the help of his sickle.
The supporting cast includes Thambi Ramaiah, 'Baahubali Prabhakar, Aayira, Jaise Jose, Vishal Rajan, Seran Raj. Music is by Ghibran, cinematography by E Krishnaswamy and editing by R Sudharshan. Action choreography is by Don Ashok. Director Dhorai VZ himself has bankrolled the film along with SM Prabakaran under the banner of Right Eye Theatres.

One of the highlights of the original film was the presence of ace comedian Vadivelu as Naai Sekar, an aspiring rowdy. His dialogues in the film were so popular that a film title 'Trisha Illana Divya' was named after his dialogue. The character, too, attained a cult status and a spin-off was made by director Suraj, who had helmed Thalai Nagaram.
After Thalainagaram 2, Sundar C is all set to begin work on the fourth instalment of Aranmanai franchise, in which he will play the lead as well. While Aranmanai released in 2014, the second and third films of the franchise, Aranmanai 2 and Aranmanai 3 released in 2016 and 2021 respectively. Sundar C, who helmed all the three films, appeared in a crucial role in all of them. The plots are not connected to one another, but the story revolves around an aranmanai (palace) haunted by supernatural spirits.
