The excitement around Rajinikanth's next film, tentatively titled Thalaivar 170, has increased after the announcement of some of its cast members which includes Amitabh Bachchan. The latest news is that the Jailer actor has landed in Kerala for the shoot of the film, which will take place in Thiruvananthapuram.

Rajinikanth spoke to the media at the Chennai Airport before boarding a flight to Kochi. He shared that Thalaivar 170 will be a mass entertainer that also carries a social message. The 72-year-old actor added that Jailer exceeded his expectations and that Lyca Productions will produce his 170th movie.

In a recent update, the producers of the film announced that Fahadh Faasil and Manju Warrier will be part of the cast. Baahubali actor Rana Daggubati is also confirmed to play a role in the film, along with Kolai actor Ritika Singh and Dushara Vijayan.

About Thalaivar 170

Directed by TJ Gnanavel, who is known for the critically acclaimed Suriya-starrer Jai Bhim, Thalaivar 170 will not just be a fan service, according to Rajinikanth, but the film will have a social message.

In the film, Rajinikanth plays a police officer who deals with fake encounter killings. Anirudh Ravichander is in charge of the music department, marking his fourth collaboration with Rajinikanth after Jailer, Petta, and Darbar. The team is expected to reveal the film's first look on October 4.

Rajinikanth's cameo in Lal Salaam

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth will be seen in a cameo role in his daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth's film, Lal Salaam. The actor will play Moideen Bhai in the sports drama film, which is slated to hit theatres during Pongal 2024. Along with Rajinikanth, cricketer Kapil Dev will also be seen in a guest role in the film.
