Thalaivar 170 update: Rajinikanth returns to Tamil Nadu amid fanfare. Watch video

Superstar Rajinikanth is now busy shooting for his upcoming movie, which has been titled Thalaivar 170. The movie went on the floors earlier this month amid a lot of expectations. Written and directed by TJ Gnanavel of Jai Bhim fame, the first schedule of the shoot took place in Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram.

After spending a week in Thiruvananthapuram, the shooting has now begun in Tirunelveli. A video showing Rajinikanth reaching Tirunelveli is going viral on social media. Fans could be seen struggling to catch a glimpse of the Thalaivar.

Rajinikanth greeted his fans and even shook hands with a few before he resumed his journey.

It's unclear how long Rajinikanth will camp in Tirunelveli for the Thalaivar 170 shoot.

Fan frenzy follows Rajinikanth

Rajinikanth created quite a fan frenzy during his entire stay in Kerala. From the biggest stars of Malayalam cinema to die-hard fans gave him a rousing welcome to God's own country.

Several videos surfaced on social media revealing crowds every day throning the shooting spot of Thalaivar 170 to see Rajinikanth.

In the meantime, several stars of Malayalam cinema also met Rajinikanth during his week-long stay in the state. Director Jude Anthany Joseph, who directed the blockbuster 2018 and actor Jayasurya were among the members of the Malayalam film fraternity who recently met Rajinikanth.

Sharing his excitement after the meeting, Jude Anthany Joseph also revealed Rajinikanth's blessing for his impending Oscar campaign. Jude's 2018 is India's official entry for the Oscars. And the director is planning an elaborate campaign for the movie. 

Thalaivar 170's star-studded cast

Thalaivar 170 has one of the biggest ensemble casts that we have seen in recent times. Besides Rajinikanth, the movie also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Rana Daggubati, Fahadh Faasil, Manju Warrier, Dushara Vijayan and Ritika Singh among others.

Bankrolled by Lyca Productions, Thalaivar 170 will hit the screens next year.
