However, the project was announced with Rajinikanth headlining the film and the latter producing it. Sundar C was also announced as the director, marking his collaboration with the superstar after Arunachalam.
But the recent backing out of Sundar C from the project, had shocked the industry and fans alike, especially when the filmmaker walked out from such a prestigious collaboration. While those concerned have not yet addressed anything officially yet, Kamal Haasan was questioned about this by the media.

“He (Sundar C) has put out his opinion on the paper (Statement). I am investor and it is healthy for me to pick a story that my star (Rajinikanth) likes. We will continue to hear stories until he likes it, and that is what we are doing. There are chances for someone new to come in," Kamal Haasan said. He also mentioned that there are also looking out for other stories in which both of them will star.
