Thalaivar 173: Cibi Chakaravarthi to direct Rajinikanth; Anirudh Ravichander to score music

The much-expected update is here! Thalaivar 173 which was announced some time back, had put some brakes after the Rajinikanth film’s director Sundar C, had decided to back off. On that note, the makers gave a huge update with the new director on social media on Saturday. Filmmaker Cibi Chakaravarthi who made Don, will be directing Thalaivar 173, and its official.

Thalaivar 173: Who is going to direct Rajinikanth’s film?

We had earlier reported that Rajinikanth’s next film Thalaivar 173, will be bankrolled by Kamal Haasan’s home banner. Sundar C was announced as the director of the film. But soon after the announcement was made, the filmmaker backed out due to reasons unknown.

Now, on Saturday, a new announcement was made, with the director who will be helming the prestigious project. Young director Cibi Chakaravarthi who earlier made his debut with Sivakarthikeyan-starrer Don, will be helming the project. Thalaivar 173 will mark the second directorial of Cibi, who at various times has expressed how big a Rajinikanth fan he is.

While Cibi was working on Sivakarthikeyan project, it is now understood that the film will be on hold for a while, until he finishes Thalaivar 173. The project is expected to be an entertainer.

Who is going to score music for Thalaivar 173?

Besides the director, another new announcement was unveiled about Thalaivar 173. Anirudh Ravichander who had scored for Don, and worked in Rajinikanth films like Vettaiyan, Coolie, and Jailer, will be scoring music for Thalaivar 173 as well.

When will Thalaivar 173 release?

Thalaivar 173 has been announced to hit theatres for Pongal 2027. A release date is yet to be announced. With the film to go on floors in this year, Rajinikanth is expected to join the shoot after he finishes shooting for his next Jailer 2.
