We had reported that the shoot of Thalapathy Vijay's film with director Vamshi Paidipally was currently underway. Tentatively titled Thalapathy 66, the makers are planning to get the film in theatres, ahead of Sankranti aka Pongal, in 2023. The latest buzz is that Prabhudheva has choreographed a song for Vijay, which is also said to be the opening number. However, an official confirmation is awaited.
The choreographer has directed Vijay in films like Pokkiri and Villu. While the former was a blockbuster, the latter turned into a dud at the box office. After 13 years, Prabhudheva and Vijay have collaborated on Thalapathy 66. Notably, Prabhudheva not only choreographed the opening songs in both the films but also was seen in those, along with Vijay. Now, we have to wait and watch if Prabhudheva will appear for a cameo in this newly-shot energetic number. According to sources, the song has been shot in the ongoing Hyderabad schedule and has come out well, exceeding everyone's expectations. Apparently, Vijay had requested Prabhudheva to choreograph the dance moves for this one. And, he was happy to oblige Thalapathy's request.
The film will have more than four songs, composed by Thaman. “Thalapathy 66 will only be dubbed in Telugu. It is a full-fledged Tamil film. I enjoyed working on it, as I got to score the music for Vijay sir, who is a fantastic dancer. It has been a dream come true experience,” he said in a recent interview. Thaman went on to add that it was Vijay's idea to bring him on board for the project and he couldn't have been happier.
The Thalapathy 66 Hyderabad schedule will be lasting till mid-June, and the team will return to Chennai for the next one.
As confirmed by Thaman, the Vijay-starrer will be shot entirely in Tamil and then be dubbed in Telugu and simultaneously released in both languages.
Produced by Dil Raju's Sri Venkateswara Creations the film has Rashmika Mandanna, Prabhu, Sarath Kumar, Prakash Raj, Shaam, Yogi Babu and others in important roles. With cinematography by Kharthik Palani, and editing by KL Praveen, Thalapathy 66 is jointly scripted by Vamshi, Hari, and Ashishor Solomon. Lyricist Vivek is penning the dialogues and additional screenplay.
