Tamil superstar Vijay is in the news again for "breaking" the internet with his emphatic arrival on the Instagram platform. The Leo actor landed on the photo-sharing platform on April 2 and instantly got everyone talking about it, with fans and ardent well-wishers hitting the "follow" button like there's no tomorrow. Vijay, if reports are to be believed, managed to attract 1 million and more followers within 100 minutes of his arrival on Instagram and by virtue of this, he is part of an elite list that also includes the likes of Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Aniston and Kim Tae-hyung, or 'V', of the South Korean boy band BTS.

So, while Thalapathy Vijay continues to bask in his newest glory, let's take a quick look at the five quickest celebrities to reach 1 million followers in Instagram's history:

Kim Tae-hyung of BTS

On December 13, 2021, South Korean singer Kim Tae-hyung created the Guinness World Record for the fastest time to reach 1 million followers on Instagram. Tae-hyung, or 'V', needed all of 43 minutes to get to that point and soon enough he would set another Guinness World Record for the fastest time to reach 10 million followers on the platform.

Angelina Jolie

Hollywood actor and filmmaker Angelina Jolie broke Instagram a few months before Kim Tae-hyung did with her post about a letter she received from a teenage girl in Afghanistan. The poignant post, which included the handwritten letter and picture, turned many heads towards the Oscar-winning actress and allowed her to attract 1 million followers in 59 minutes.

Vijay

Reportedly, the superstar actor needed only 99 minutes to get to the 1 million mark and it doesn't look like the count is going to stop anytime soon. "Hello Nanbas and Nanbis 😊," said the 48-year-old star in his post and shared an endearing picture alongside.

Moon Tae-il

Another South Korean to make this special list is singer Moon Tae-il who managed to reach 1 million followers in only one-hour-and-45-minutes, making him the fourth fastest to get to the concerned point. 

Rupert Grint

"Hey Instagram....only 10 years late, but here I am. Grint on the Gram! Here to introduce you all to Wednesday G. Grint. Stay safe, Rupert," wrote the Harry Potter actor Rupert Grint, who melted and won away hearts with a heartwarming picture of his daughter Wednesday. Reportedly, Rupert needed a little over four hours to win a million followers and surprisingly, he has been slightly reclusive ever since when it comes to being active on Instagram.
