Thalapathy67: Silambarasan TR to play Vijay's villain in Lokesh Kanagaraj's next?

It seems like there is not a single day when fans don't speculate about the cast and crew of Vijay's next with Lokesh Kanagaraj. The latest we hear about the film, which is being referred to as Thalapathy67, is that Silambarasan TR is part of the project. The reason being cited is that the announcement about Thalapathy67 is expected on February 3, which also happens to be Silambarasan's birthday. 

It is to be noted that Silambarasan had sung the chartbuster Thee Thalapathy in Varisu, which was a dedication to 30 years of Vijay in the film industry. Silambarasan is said to have sung the number out of goodwill. Silambarasan is awaiting the release of Pathu Thala, which is the Tamil remake of the Kannada film Mufti. The plot revolves around a cat and mouse game between a police officer and a dreaded gangster. Silambarasan teams up with Gautham Karthik and Priya Bhavani Shankar for the first time. The film is directed by Obeli N Krishna and is bankrolled by Studio Green.

Meanwhile, the shooting for Thalapathy67 has begun and the team had recently canned a small portion in Kodaikanal. As of now, the film's star cast is said to comprise Vijay, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun, Trisha, Mysskin and Mansoor Ali Khan. The film is said to be part of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe and hence, Suriya fans hope that the actor will make his comeback as his popular character Rolex. If Silambarasan gets on board, this would be the first time that Vijay and Silambarasan will be working together in a film.
