The Coolie-War 2 frenzy has taken over the film industry in the country, as the two highly anticipated releases clash at the box office this Independence Day. Amid these titans, Arjun Ashokan’s Malayalam Thalavara was also slated to hit the theatres. But in the latest update, Thalavara has postponed its release and announced a new date.

Arjun Ashokan’s Thalavara postponed

Thalavara is an upcoming Malayalam film starring actor Arjun Ashokan in the lead role. The film, presented by ace filmmaker Mahesh Narayanan, was initially slated to hit theatres on August 15, 2025. But now the makers have announced that Thalavara will now release a week later on August 22. But the makers have not given a reason as to why the film has been postponed.

Thalavara cast

The upcoming Arjun Ashokan film is directed by Akhil Anilkumar, and produced by Mahesh Narayanan and Shebin Backer. Revathy Sarma appears as the female lead in the film, which also features Ashokan, Devadarshini Chetan, Sharath Sabha, Ashwath Lal, Athira Mariam, and Abhiram Radhakrishnan, among several others.

Akhil Anilkumar has penned Thalavara, which is set in Palakkad. Akhil Anilkumar has also co-written the screenplay along with Appu Aslam.

In the recently released teaser, Arjun Ashokan is seen as a youth who battles securities as he suffers from a certain skin condition. The teaser features his parents, Ashokan and Devadarshini. The glimpse shows youth interacting with a young woman, and how they get close after an initial spat.

On the other hand, Arjun’s latest film is Sumathi Valavu, a horror comedy, which is currently running in theatres.
