Atharvaa Murali, the young star of Kollywood and Anupama Parameswaran or better known as ‘Mary’ from Premam, will be seen together in Thalli Pogathey, a Tamil romantic-comedy, which will release in theatres on October 14. The movie is produced and directed by R Kannan.

The title of the movie is inspired by the song of the 2016 Silambarasan-starrer action movie Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada. The movie is an official remake of the Telugu rom-com Ninnu Kori, starring Nani and Nivetha Thomas in lead roles. Atharvaa will be playing the role of Nani while Anupama will play Nivetha. Atharvaa plays Karthik, a fun-loving carefree youth who falls in love with Pallavi, played by Anupama Parameswaran. When Pallavi proposes to Karthik, he rejects her and she marries Arun and moves away to France. After one year, Karthik realises his love for Pallavi and goes to France in hope of reuniting with her by creating troubles in her peaceful marriage with Arun. While Aadhi Pinisetty played Arun in Ninnu Kori, Amitash Pradhan will reprise that role in Thalli Pogathey. Amitash is known for his villain role in Dhanush starrer Velai Illa Pattadhari, in which he played a spoilt multi-millionaire. Gopi Sundar who composed for Ninnu Kori was also roped in for the remake.

Ninnu Kori was a commercial hit in Tollywood with critics appreciating Nani’s natural acting and realistic storyline of the movie. R. Kannan usually deals with romance and comedy subjects and his last directorial was the Santhanam starring Biskoth, which was released in theatres in November 2020 and opened to mixed reviews. The movie was a parody of the Hollywood movie Bedtime Stories along with parodying several Indian movies like Baahubali and Sholay.

Meanwhile, Anupama was last seen in Maniyarayile Ashokan, a fantasy-romance movie that was released on Netflix. The movie received negative reviews for its superficial acting and outdated concept.Atharvaa was last seen in Netflix Original anthology Navarasa segment of Veera-Valour, titled Thunintha Pin, in which he played Vetri, an inexperienced member of Special Task Force pursuing a Naxalite in Sathyamangalam forest.
