Nithiin is going through a series of flops and had pinned all his hopes on his new film, Thammudu. Produced by Dil Raju and directed by Sreeram Venu, the trailer caught the imagination of many and created decent buzz around the film.
But sadly, the action drama opened to disappointing word of mouth. Be it the reviews or audience reactions from evening shows, Thammudu has been declared a massive flop at the box office.
The latest update is that Thammudu managed to collect only Rs 2 crore net on day one worldwide. This is a shocking number, considering Nithiin’s market value and the fact that the film is backed by a star producer like Dil Raju. Director Sreeram Venu is being criticized for narrating the film in a very disappointing manner, with the overdose of action not sitting well with many.
Varsha Bollama, who plays a key role, is the only solace, as her performance is the biggest highlight of the film. Nithiin’s fans are hugely disappointed, especially since the film was titled Thammudu, the same name as Pawan Kalyan’s cult classic. As a huge Pawan fan, Nithiin had allowed the film to carry the same title despite the risk.
Sapthami Gowda, who makes her Telugu debut with this film, is also facing trolling for her loud acting. More than anything, director Sreeram Venu is being blamed for the weak storytelling.

Netflix has grabbed the digital rights for a fancy price and is likely to stream Thammudu in the first week of August 2025. There’s also a chance the film may arrive on OTT even earlier. With the weekend underway, it remains to be seen how much Thammudu can recover in the coming days. For now, both the word of mouth and collections are disappointing.
