Thammudu trailer: Power, sentiment, and action collide in Nithiin's new-age action drama

Nithiin pinned a lot of hopes on his last film, Robinhood, directed by Venky Kudumula of Chalo and Bheeshma fame. But sadly, the film ended up as a disaster at the box office and is now streaming on Zee5 and OTTplay Premium.

Following the debacle, Nithiin shifted focus to his next film, Thammudu. Venu Sriram of Vakeel Saab fame has directed this project, which is set for release on July 4, 2025.

The makers recently released the trailer, and it looks quite impactful. After a long gap, Nithiin is seen in a meaningful action backdrop that offers scope for drama, sentiment, and intense action. 

Yesteryear actress Laya makes her comeback with this film, playing Nithiin's sister. The trailer boasts great visuals, impressive camerawork, and pulsating action sequences.

Set in the native village of Ambaragodugu, the story revolves around the villagers being trapped under the control of a ruthless antagonist, played by Saurabh Sachdeva of Animal fame. Nithiin’s character enters to liberate them from this tyranny. 

Saptami Gowda plays the female lead and is shown as a charming village belle. Varsha Bollama also plays a key role, but it is the final emotional shot featuring Laya and Nithiin that truly steals the show.

From the looks of it, Nithiin and Laya’s sibling bond carries unresolved tension, and the film’s core lies in how Nithiin’s character enters Ambaragodugu and resolves his sister’s long-standing issues. While the plot may seem routine, the way Venu Sriram has handled the emotions is quite impressive.

Ajaneesh Lokanath and Saptami Gowda a key part of Thammudu

Ajaneesh Loknath has composed the music, and his thumping background score elevates the film's intensity. Produced by Dil Raju, Thammudu clearly showcases high production values through its rich visuals. Compared to Nithiin’s previous outings, this film has much more to offer, at least based on the trailer.

Amazon Prime Video has acquired the digital rights for a fancy price. Whether Thammudu marks Nithiin 's much-needed comeback remains to be seen. Stay tuned for more updates!
