Sai Pallavi and Naga Chaitanya are gearing up for the release of their film Thandel, a romantic drama that is set to hit big screens on February 7. Directed by Chandoo Mondeti, the film marks the second time the actors are collaborating after Love Story.
While promoting Thandel, Sai Pallavi was asked why she was not cast in the Telugu remake of her hit Malayalam film Premam, in which she played the famous Malar teacher. It is because of the one rule she follows, and read on to know what is it.
Sai Pallavi rose to fame with her portrayal of Malar teacher in the 2015 Malayalam film Premam. However, when the film was remade in Telugu with Naga Chaitanya, and Thandel director Chandoo Mondeti, Shruti Haasan played Sai Pallavi's character.

When the topic was brought up, Sai Pallavi revealed that she was indeed asked to play the role, and it was she who rejected saying that she would not do remakes. "It is very scary because even if Alphonse, Nivin and I had to recreate this, I don't know if we can create those moments again. It just happened and we captured it. It is so much pressure to do the same thing again and I don't want to lose the charm that once existed. So, I was very clear and said that,” the actor said, justifying why she does not do remakes.
The Telugu remake of Premam, co-written and directed by Chandoo Mondeti, is available on SunNXT and the OTTplay Premium app. The film featured Naga Chaitanya in the lead role, with Madonna Sebastian and Anupama Parameswaran reprising their roles. Shruti Haasan played Sai Pallavi's character. Meanwhile, you can watch the Malayalam version on Disney+ Hotstar.
