Anil Kapoor, Harsh Vardhan Kapoor, Fatima Sana Shaikh, and Satish Kaushik assembled on Monday to premiere the trailer for their next film, Thar, directed by Raj Singh Chaudhary. The film, which is set in Rajasthan, will be available on Netflix from May 6 and is veteran actor Anil’s second collaboration with Harsh since AK vs AK.
When asked about working with his father, Harsh stated that he was committed to the task and was not intimidated by the scenario. The actor added that he did not feel the pressure of working with a family member at any point during the making of the film, which, incidentally, is a home production for him, given that Thar has been produced by Anil and Harsh. Harsh added that he just treats the situation like he would if it were any other actor. Also, Thar, he said, was a lot different from AK vs AK, which had dark humour. Thar, on the other hand, was more visual and cinematic, wherein the goal for him was to deviate from the expectations of what a father and son should do together.
While replying to a question from Indianexpress.com on collaborating with his son, Anil remarked that while he was anxious at first, they broke the ice on the set of AK vs AK.
Anil admitted that when they first began shooting for AK vs AK, there was a lot of trepidation and anxiousness, with the veteran actor being more nervous than Harsh. Anil said that he couldn’t contain the protective father in him when Harsh had a long monologue in the film, which he’d not attempted before in his professional life. But his fears came to nought when Harsh finished the shot, and had makers Vikram Motwane and Anurag Kashyap overjoyed with his performance. It was only after seeing Harsh perform like that that Anil realized what his son is capable of.
Anil added that if he had been in Harsh's shoes, he would not have taken a small part in a film starring his father. He noted that the younger generation operates in a different manner, something that he admires about Harsh and makes him immensely proud.
Thar will be available on Netflix from May 6 onwards.
