Ryan Reynolds’ latest adventure will involve time travel, grappling with some past trauma and some strange family reunions. The makers of the star’s upcoming film, The Adam Project, recently unveiled its trailer, and it certainly has a lot going on.

The teaser introduces us to a young boy named Adam, grieving the loss of his father, and finding himself in trouble at school as he struggles to come to terms with his loss. The advice his mother gives him, on how his future ‘is coming’ and it turns out to be fulfilled in the most unimaginable way possible, as he is visited by an important person from the future - himself as an adult. Together, adult Adam and young Adam journey across different timelines to confront their father with some unfinished business. And of course, they get on some exciting adventures along the way.

The upcoming film stars Reynolds and Walker Scobell as the adult and young versions of Adam respectively. Mark Ruffalo stars as Adam’s father and Jennifer Garner essays the role of Adam’s mother. The film also features Zoe Saldaña, Catherine Keener and Alex Mallari Jr. in pivotal roles.

The film was announced back in 2012, and the makers were in talks with Tom Cruise for the titular role. The film was acquired from Paramount by Netflix and went on floors in 2020, with production being wrapped up in March, last year.

Shawn Levy, who recently collaborated with Reynolds on Free Guy, has directed the film. The film has been written by Jonathan Tropper, T.S. Nowlin, Jennifer Flackett and Mark Levin.

The Adam Project will be available to stream on Netflix from March 11, 2022.
