Khushi Kapoor is making her film debut in style with Zoya Akhtar’s upcoming directorial The Archies. Khushi, who will be making her debut in the film along with Suhana Khan and Agastya Nanda, is the daughter of Sridevi and Boney Kapoor. Boney recently opened up about his daughter’s film debut.

In conversation with ETimes, the filmmaker said that The Archies was a ‘dream project’ as the youth centric film is perfect as young people were the target audience for films these days. Another advantage of the film was that it would also appeal to older audiences as well, as they were big fans of the comics and The Archies would be like a ‘nostalgic trip’, Boney said. “It is a double whammy. The youngsters in any case will revel in the iconic world of The Archies.”

The filmmaker reminisced how Raj Kapoor had also been a fan of the comics, having stacks of the same in his rooms. Boney said that one of the reasons he used to love visiting the late actor’s house was so that he could read the latest Archie comics.

On Khushi’s decision to turn an actress, Boney revealed that she had expressed interest in becoming an actress after her elder sister Janhvi Kapoor started filming Dhadak, which marked the latter’s film debut. The filmmaker said that he had sent his youngest daughter to film school following that, and would always encourage his children to do want they want, giving his full support.

The Archies will premiere on Netflix in 2023.
