The Archies: First look pics of Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor and Agastya Nanda go VIRAL from Zoya Akhtar's film sets

Zoya Akhtar took netizens by storm last year in November when she announced that she will be adapting the popular Archie comics in Hindi, giving it a desi twist for a Netflix film. Though, there was no official announcement on who will play the iconic characters of Veronica Lodge, Betty Cooper, Archie Andrews and Jughead Jones, multiple reports doing the rounds suggested that superstar Shah Rukh Khan's daughter Suhana Khan, Sridevi's daughter Khushi Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan's grandson Agastya Nanda have been roped in to make their acting debut with the film. Several reports had also suggested that Saif Ali Khan's son Ibrahim Ali Khan too is likely to be a part of the project, however there wasn't any confirmation on the same. 

While the fans had still been waiting for an official word on the final cast, filmmaker Zoya Akhtar was papped spending time with the trio while accompanying them to dinners and dance classes over the past few months, which gave further fuel to the rumours about the trio being confirmed for the film. Now, several pictures from the possible look test for the film have surfaced on social media, leaving little room for doubt in terms of who will be playing what in the desi adaptation of The Archies. 

If the pictures, that are now viral on social media, are anything to go by, it's evident from Suhana's outfit and hairstyle that she'll be seen playing Veronica. Khushi can be seen sporting bangs in her hairdo. Clad in a vest sweater on top of her shirt paired with brown shorts her look screams Betty Cooper. Agastya is likely to be seen in the character of Archie. His sister Navya Naveli Nanda too was spotted on the sets. A report on TOI suggests that Vedang Raina will be seen playing the role of Jughead.

Well, this won't be the first time that the Archie comics will be geeting a film adaptation as its characters have been adapted in various movies, TV shows, cartoons and video games over the years. However, what sets Zoya Akhtar's directorial apart is the acting debut of three star kids in a coming-of-age musical drama. 

Reema Kagti and Sharad Devarajan will be co-producing the Hindi adaptation along with Zoya Akhtar under the banners of Tiger Baby and Graphic India. While making the announcement last year, Zoya had shared in an Instagram post that "Archie and the Crew are about to get Down and Desi! (sic)."

Much like other parts of the globe, The Archie has a huge fan base in India. While making it official last year, the director had said in a statement, "It was a large part of my childhood and teenage years. The characters are iconic and globally loved, which is also why I am a little nervous." She also added that she has to ensure that the film resonates with the generation that grew up reading the comics and that it strikes a chord with the young adults today as well.
