Zoya Akhtar is a filmmaker that has a knack to often come up with a movie that stands out with the audience like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Gully Boy. The filmmaker’s latest is The Archies, an adaptation of the comic book of the same name. The movie, which has come under some fire from fans, has now wrapped a schedule.
Akhtar took to social media to share the news with the fans. She shared a photo of a sign that reads the word wrap on Instagram with the caption, “It’s A Sign #schedulewrap #thankyouooty”.
Khushi Kapoor, who is reportedly playing the role of Betty from the comics, also took to Instagram to share a photo collage of some memorable moments from the movie’s filming. She also wrote, “Ooty wrap”, in the photo she shared as an Instagram story. Vedang Raina also took to the Instagram stories feature to share a photo as he bid goodbye to Ooty.
While Archies is a celebrated comic around the world, the Indian film adaptation was received with mixed reactions from the viewers. The movie stars a whole list of star kids such as Raina, Dot, Mihir Ahuja and Yuvraj Menda with Suhana Khan, Agastya Nanda and Khushi Kapoor making their acting debuts. Suhana, Agastya and Khushi are reported to play Veronica Lodge, Betty Cooper and Archie Andrews respectively, while there has been no official confirmation yet.
Touted to be a coming-of-age movie, The Archies will see the teenagers of Riverdale set in India, with the idea of evoking nostalgia in the previous generation of viewers while introducing them to the young Indian audience. The movie is currently scheduled to be released on Netflix in 2023.
