The Batman box office collection: Robert Pattinson's film earns $248.5 million on opening weekend worldwide

The caped crusader is back with a bang to save Gotham city. The latest superhero movie from the DC world, The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson as the caped crusader has had a grand opening. The film has already collected $128.5 million domestically in the US, making it the second-highest grosser during the pandemic era, after Tom Holland's Spider-Man: No Way Home. 

The film marks director Matt Reeves’ biggest opening to date. It is also the only second movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter, to have crossed $100 million on its opening since December 2019. 

The film has collected $120 million from 75 markets, making a total of about $248.5 million worldwide.

The film trade analysts find the performance of the film impressive as it is quite lengthy, about three hours of runtime and has a darker story. Many also considered Reeves to be not a safe bet for the film but he was the first reportedly to be hired by Toby Emmerich to helm a superhero movie after Emmerich became the president of Warner Bros. Motion Pictures. The films Joker and Suicide Squad were already in production then. 

Emmerich told the portal that from the very beginning, Reeves has been trying to ensure to tell a story and present a character like nobody did before. And his vision has definitely left the audience and critics in awe. 

The film released on March 4 and also features Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard and Andy Serkis, among others. The Catwoman is played by Zoë Kravitz while the Penguin is played by Colin Farrell. Paul Dano plays the Riddler.
