Mary Shelley's popular 1818 gothic novel, Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus, achieved its first cinematic adaptation in 1910. Since then it has been a monster of a muse for filmmakers for several years as they brought numerous movies that are inspired by the novel story. Now, Christian Bale has taken the initiative to bring a fresh modern movie, The Bride!, that's based on the novel, which itself draws inspiration from James Whale's 1935 movie, Bride of Frankenstein.
The upcoming monster drama is coming to cinemas next year on March 6, 2026. While Christian Bale will be seen as the Frankenstein Monster in the movie, Jessie Buckley in the leading star of the movie who plays the bride of the Frankenstein.
Apart from Christian Bale and Jessie Buckley in the leads, the monster drama also features Jake Gyallenhaal, Peter Sarsgaard, Annette Bening, and Penélope Cruz in pivotal roles. The Bride! is directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal, who is the older sister of actor Jake Gyallenhaal.
The upcoming movie promises to be an exciting mixture of scary suspense, dark horror thrillers, and passionate romance. Instead of staying in where they belong, Frankenstein and his bride will be seen hitting the road together as they run away. The movie will focus on their intense love story, making them marked as the outlaw lovers as they don't fit into the society. However, their escape will turn their whole world upside down, creating lots of troubles.
The Bride! has set the stage against the backdrop of 1930s Chicago, which will give the movie an old-school atmosphere. Frankenstein's relationship with his bride is described as radical, which means it goes against all the societal norms. As they try to stay ahead of those pursuing them, their desperate run from their creators and from a judgmental society becomes the main focus. It's a story of two outsiders searching for freedom and love, no matter the consequences or the chaos they leave behind.
