Sonali Bendre is currently gearing up for the release of her highly-anticipated show, The Broken News Season 2, which is all set to release today, on May 3. She has been one of the most popular actresses in the 90s and has been impressing the audience with her performance to date. Sonali recently revealed how link-up rumors were made for lead pairs to be in the news in the 90s. She also revealed that producers asked her to gain weight and termed her as too skinny. 

Recalling the time when she entered the industry, Sonali tells Hauterrfly that heroines back then were not skinny. Hence producers were trying to fatten her up all the time. She said, “They would just tell me to ‘eat eat eat bahut patli hai (she is too thin).’ They wanted curves.”

The actress further confirmed, an in interview with News18, that most of the link-up rumours about her were not true. However, she also believes that this trend still exists in the industry and this used to and even now happens so that there is a buzz around their films. “These days, actors are at least asked if they would want link-up rumors with their co-stars to be floated around. During my time, we weren’t even asked and those gossips would just be out there to promote the film and the actors had no choice,” Sonali stated.

Meanwhile, directed by Vinay Waikul, The Broken News Season 2 will bring back Sonali Bendre, Jaideep Ahalawat, and Shriya Pilgaonkar, who will reprise their roles as Ameena Qureshi, Dipankar Sanyal, and Radha Bhargava respectively. The show also stars Indraneil Sengupta, Taaruk Raina, and Sanjeeta Bhattacharya in pivotal roles. The show will continue with the arch rivalry that was shown in the first series between two Indian news channels viz., Josh 24/7 and Awaaz Bharati.

The Broken News 2 will premiere on ZEE5 on May 3, 2024.
