This September left moviegoers in sheer dilemma with four big-budget movies clashed on the same date. The silver screen saw a mind-blowing mix of genres like a Hollywood horror flick, two intense action dramas, and a thrilling political drama. So, with the popcorn munched and the credits rolled on their first weekend, today we are comparing the box office collections of these movies to check who's winning the chart and taking in all the rupees!
The horror flick, which claims to be the final chapter of The Conjuring Universe, earned Rs 15.50 crore on Sunday, making it a total collection of Rs 50.50 crore within three days of its release in India. According to Sacnilk, the original English version earned the most Rs 27.55 crore, the Hindi-dubbed version made around Rs 18.73 crore. Meanwhile, the Tamil and Telugu versions together collected Rs 3 crore.
The Tiger Shroff-starrer is running quite behind, but not losing the battle. However, the fourth instalment has failed to surpass its predecessors. Baaghi 4 has shown no magical progress on Sunday and earned only Rs 10 crore, making it a total of 31.25 crore within third days of its release. The action drama has a 27.08% overall occupancy in Hindi language, breaking it down to 8.75% for morning shows, 28.81% for afternoon, 26.95% for evening, and 33.82% for night shows.
The Vivek Agnihotri-directorial is showing good progress compared to Baaghi 4, but still running behind. On Sunday, The Bengal Files earned Rs 2.75 crore, making it a total of Rs 6.65 crore within third days of its release. The political drama has a 38.95% overall occupancy in Hindi language, breaking it down to 24.68% for morning shows, 49.52% for afternoon, 52.15% for evening, and 29.44% for night shows.
The A R Murugadoss-directorial is also not behind in this box office race. Starring Sivakarthikeyan in the lead, the Tamil action drama earned Rs 10.85 crore on Sunday, making it a total of Rs 36.60 crore within three days of its release. Madharaasi has a 56.03% overall occupancy in Tamil language, breaking it down to 39.49% for morning shows, 66.36% for afternoon, 64.67% for evening, and 53.58% for night shows.
Seems like the audiences are more iterested in getting scared rather making their adrenaline rush with action dramas. The Conjuring: Last Rites has totally crushed it at the box office, scaring its way to the biggest opening weekend ever for the whole Conjuring Universe. This just shows how much people love a good fright, and it proves that the franchise has been a master at crafting classic horror flicks since it first released in 2013.
