Season 6 Part One began with a grim reminder of Diana’s impending death, before switching over to her vacation with Mohamed Al Fayed’s family in Saint Tropez. Season 6 is supposed to trace the iconic moments of the Royal family and Diana’s life from 1997 to 2005, approximately.

From posing in a bathing suit in front of photographers to get rid of them, to refusing to marry so soon after a divorce, Diana created an uproar by defying and transgressing the limitations a Royal alliance and society imposes on her. Season 6 part 1 had four episodes, tracing her blooming relationship with Dodi Al Fayed, and her increasing frustration at being constantly harangued by the media for her chutzpah.

The first part ends with Diana and her lover’s tragic death in a car accident, and the Queen’s Address to the public, which her conscience pricked her into delivering after allowing her a ceremonial funeral.

Season 6 Part Two is expected to cover the marriage of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles, the blossoming love story of Prince William and Kate Middleton, as well as the deaths of Princess Margaret, the Queen’s sister, and Queen Elizabeth, the Queen’s mother, in 2002.

It has been confirmed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s romance will not be a part of the show as creator Peter Morgan has a self-imposed “20-year rule,” as he said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, “One wishes some happiness, but I’m much more comfortable writing about things that happened at least 20 years ago.”
