Full-fledged bookings of Darshan Thoogudeepa’s The Devil are finally open, what with national multiplex chains also now in the mix. Until early afternoon on December 10, multiplex bookings had not opened, which, according to distributor Suprith TS was because the censor certificate had not been issued. A little while ago, the film’s censor certificate became available. It’s been certified U/A with a runtime of a whopping 2 hours and 49 minutes. Following this, bookings at multiplexes began.

Earlier in the day, Suprith had told OTTplay that although the initial plan was to have 6-6.30 am shows only at single screen theatres for fans to celebrate, a day ago it was decided to have an early start at multiplexes also. However, only select multiplexes have scheduled these. Ticket rates, of course, are higher for the FDFS, with multiplex rates beginning at Rs 400 and going up to Rs 1,200 for recliner seats.
The Devil, directed by Prakash Veer, is releasing in Darshan’s absence on December 11, a day ahead of the initial plan. Darshan is paired with Rachana Rai in the film, while his Navagraha co-star Sharmiela Mandre has a pivotal cameo. The film also stars Mahesh Manjrekar, Achyuth Kumar, Huli Karthik, Gilli Nata, Chandu B Gowda, Vinay Gowda, among others.

Darshan, according to Prakash, has multiple shades in the film, which is the biggest highlight of The Devil. “He has explored never-before-seen shades in the film, which will be a treat for fans. The trailer only showcased his ‘Devil’ avatar; there’s much more in store,” the filmmaker had told Power TV.
