Challenging Star Darshan Thoogudeepa’s latest, The Devil is only days away from hitting theatres, and the hope was that the team would reveal the much-awaited trailer on December 1 or 2 and finally let audiences know what’s in store on December 11. However, the wait for that moment has gotten a tad longer. A little while ago, director-producer Prakash Veer’s banner’s official handle announced that The Devil trailer will drop on December 5 at 10.05 am.

Ahead of this reveal, the entire team will hold the first press conference of The Devil in Bengaluru on December 2. They had earlier had an event for fans only during which it was decided to advance the film’s release by a day. The Devil had been announced as a December 12 release initially, but after incessant demand from fans, they are now hitting theatres a day earlier on December 11. Director Prakash Veer’s home banner is handling the release formalities, and is said to be targeting 300-400 theatres in Karnataka, given that the film is releasing in Kannada only.
The Devil is Darshan’s second film that is releasing in his absence. Back in 2011, Darshan was arrested in a domestic violence case and was in judicial custody when Saarathi released. The film became a massive hit and was the highest grosser of the year, largely due to support from his fans. The case was later resolved out of court. This time, though, Darshan is in jail for much more serious charges and is accused No. 2 in a murder case.
However, despite the severity of the case, fan support and sympathy is strong for the actor, given that the actor is not being accorded any VIP treatment in jail, following allegations that he was given special privileges. His requests for a mattress and pillow to help with his back pain issues, were also refused, following which videos of other inmates receiving special treatment were leaked from the prison, fuelling another sympathy wave.
The Devil has music by Ajaneesh Loknath, with Rachana Rai the leading lady. The film also stars Mahesh Manjrekar, Achyuth Kumar, Sharmiela Mandre, Chandu B Gowda, Vinay Gowda, among others.
