The Diplomat box office collection day 3: John Abraham and Sadia Khateeb's film recently hit the big screen. The Shivam Nair directorial got mixed reception upon its theatrical release on March 14. The Duplomat, which is based on real-life events, opened at Rs 4.03 crore at the box office. It was followed by the political thriller movie collecting Rs 4.68 crore. Interestingly, John's film remained steady on the third day. As a result, the opening weekend collection stands at over Rs 10 crore.
According to early estimates by Sacnilk, The Diplomat minted Rs 4.65 crore. The three-day total of John's film comes close to Rs 15 crore. Produced by T-Series Films, JA Entertainment, Wakaoo Films, Seeta Films and Fortune Pictures, The Diplomat has decently performed at the box office. It remains to be seen how the film fares further.
The film follows the story of an Indian diplomat JP Singh who rescues Uzma Ahmed (an Indian girl) from Pakistan. She is deceived into marrying against her will. While John played JP Singh, Sadia Khateeb was seen as Uzma in the movie. The film's supporting star cast had actors like Sharib Hashmi, Kumud Mishra, Revathy, Jagjeet Sandhu and others.
Before The Diplomat was released, John Abraham opened up about meeting the real-life diplomat JP Singh. Praising him, the Bollywood actor said, "J.P. Singh sir came on set, and I observed his body language, the way he spoke—bahut hi sweet, simple, lekin pata hai jaise shatranj ke table pe, on the chess table, how you have your moves, I think he thinks 10 moves ahead. Matlab, voh baat toh aaram se karenge, but he has already planned what his next 10 moves are—and that’s how a diplomat behaves."
