The Empire trailer: Kunal Kapoor-Dino Morea’s epic fight sets the tone for gripping historical drama

Hotstar unveiled the trailer of its highly-anticipated epic drama series The Empire. The star-studded show features Kunal Kapoor as the Mughal emperor Babur, Deno Morea as the ferocious Shaibani Khan, while Shabana Azmi and Drashti Dhami also play significant roles.

The trailer begins with a sturdy dialogue narrated by Kunal as the Mughal king. The trailer hints at several gory sequences from the series and also features many actors in blink-and-a-miss appearances. Aditya Seal is spotted in a fight scene sporting traditional war attire, while The Married Woman fame actor Imaad Shah is seen briefly in the trailer as well. Towards the end, Kunal’s Babur decides to march towards Lodhi, to conquer and establish a new empire.

Talking about the show Kunal said in a statement, “We have heard many stories about Babur and the Mughals, but very little about who they were, where they came from and how they came into India. In this fictional take, this is a character with a lot of complexities, and that is what intrigued me as an actor.” Meanwhile, Shabana spoke about her role in the show and added that her character in The Empire was fierce, confident and someone who knows what she wants.

Dino also talked about his character as a ruthless emperor in the series and mentioned in a statement that his character’s look is dangerous and ferocious. “His hair, scars and his costume are detailed in a way that makes him look deadly yet may be desirable,” the Raaz actor added. The OTT giant unveiled the trailer on Twitter and shared with a caption that reads, “The story of a king battling against enemies, fate, family, death and even himself, in search of his kingdom. Hotstar Specials The Empire. All episodes start streaming from August 27th. Trailer out now (sic).
