Movies that blur the line between the supernatural and reality are particularly intriguing because they keep you guessing until the very end. Sometimes the mystery isn't even resolved, leaving the audience to interpret the story in their own way. One such film begins as a mother-daughter bonding drama but soon transforms into a thrilling journey filled with secrets, mysteries, and puzzles. Many of us may not have seen this movie yet, but Lionsgate Play has us covered as they are all set to re-release it on their Indian streaming platform.
Lionsgate Play has released some of the most interesting movies in the last two months. In July alone, the streamer gave us Room, Logan Lucky, The Arcadian, Replicas, Adrift, and The Iron Law. Prior to that, there were titles like Dream Scenario, Copshop, BME, and more—each featuring prominent stars and compelling content. Now, The Eternal Daughter joins this list and is set to be released on the streaming platform soon.
Directed by Joanna Hogg and starring Doctor Strange alum Tilda Swinton, The Eternal Daughter has been added to the upcoming movie list on Lionsgate Play’s official platform. While there is no confirmed release date yet, it is expected to hit the platform in September. Once available, you can watch it with your OTTplay Premium subscription.
According to Another Magazine, Joanna Hogg discussed what inspired her to create The Eternal Daughter. She said, "It was a long time ago. After I made my first film, Unrelated, I was wondering what to do next. I was always interested in doing something about my family, particularly the relationship between myself and my mother, and I wrote a version of it then. We were all ready to go ahead, and then I just felt like I wasn’t ready to do it."
"My mother was alive at the time, and I didn’t think I could face her with this work that seemed so personal to me and to her. Much like Julie in the eventual film, I felt very guilty, like I was trespassing on her life. So I put it aside and made Archipelago, then Exhibition, then The Souvenirs, and then it emerged again," Joanna added.
