Actress-director Shaalin Zoya - who has previously helmed short film like Revelation, Zita and Ruhani - is foraying into feature films with The Family Act

After a successful stint in the world of short films, Malayalam actress-filmmaker Shaalin Zoya is now foraying into feature films. The official poster of her latest directorial venture, The Family Act, was recently unveiled. Actor Prashanth Alexander is playing the lead character in the upcoming thriller movie.

The Mallu Singh fame actress-turned-filmmaker took to her social media handles to share the poster. She wrote, “Presenting you all the first look of my directorial feature film. As a director I managed to do 7 short-films and one- documentary till now and I’m officially stepping into the feature film category with this home production. It’s a humble attempt. Hope you will love it. Also, Thank you.”
The Family Act is produced by Few Humans, a production company founded by the actress herself. The team has already wrapped up shooting for the film, and fans are eagerly waiting for the release of her new project.
The Family Act’s cast and crew
Helmed by Shaalin, The Family Act features Prashanth Alexander, Reshmi Boban, Gayathri Govind and Zana Farzana in the lead roles.
The film, which is also written by Shaalin, has Sarath Kumar AS as its cinematographer. The movie’s editing is done by Akshay Kumar J and Anand Raj, while music is composed by Dawn Vincent and Sooraj Rajan is in charge of the sound department. The art department is handled by Nikhil Prabhakar, Sreenath Babu is the project designer and the costumes are designed by Abhijith UB.
Shaalin’s previous directorial projects and upcoming ventures
The actress became a director with the 2015 horror thriller film Revelation, starring Shanid Rahman and Akhileshan. The short film received positive response, following which she went on to make a few more short films, including Zita (2016) and Ruhaani (2020).
Apart from her directorial ventures, Shaalin will also be seen in Vinu Vijay’s Santa Maria, Porattam (Malayalam), Sugar (Malayalam), Thala (Malayalam) and Kannagi (Tamil).
