The Family Man season 2 released on Amazon Prime Video recently and ever since, people have not been able to stop talking about the female lead - Samantha Akkineni. The actress played the role of Rajji, who is shown as the antagonist in the new season. However, people can strongly feel her emotions and have come out in support of Rajji.
Taking that support into consideration, Samantha asked the viewers to come together as humans. “I want Raji's story to be a stark, much-needed reminder for us, more than ever before, to come together as humans to fight hate, oppression, and greed. If we fail to do so, countless more will be denied their identity, liberty, and their right to self-determination,” she shared.
Feeling overwhelmed with the response from the critics and audiences alike, Samantha recollected what Raj and DK told her about Rajji. In her Instagram post, the actress mentioned that the director duo wanted her to portray sensitivity and balance.
Samantha, who went through documentaries of the Tamil struggle that included stories of women in the Eelam war, was strongly moved.
“When I watched those documentaries, I was aghast and shocked by the troubles and unspeakable grief that the Tamils of Eelam went through over an extended period of time,” she shared.
“I noticed that the aforementioned documentaries had only a few thousand views and that is when it dawned on me how the world just looked away when tens of thousands people of Eelam lost their lives. And, lakhs more lost their livelihood and their homes. *Countless many* continue to live in far away lands with the wounds of the civil strife still fresh in their hearts and minds,” she added.
The Family Man 2 marked Samantha’s debut in the Hindi medium. The actress had recently shared that she was scared to make her debut with films and thus, chose the Amazon Prime Original series to debut with.
