On its first day of release in Indian theatres on July 25, 2025, the newest reboot from Marvel Studios, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, made ₹5.10 crore. The opening was in line with trade forecasts, particularly given the strong grip of the Bollywood romantic drama Saiyaara. It was not a massive debut by Marvel standards, but it was nevertheless respectable.

Urban centres drive occupancy rates

On Friday, the film's English-language screenings in India achieved an overall occupancy rate of 55.5%. Nighttime occupancy rates range from 59% to 73.6%, with the highest readings seen in major cities like Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Mumbai. A large portion of the total attendance came from late-night and weekend showings in high-definition formats, such as IMAX and 3D.

The renowned superhero team The Fantastic Four: First Steps welcomes a new lineup with Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing. Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and the squad face off in a futuristic Earth reminiscent of the '60s. The cosmic villain's formidable herald, the Silver Surfer, played by Julia Garner, makes an appearance.

Box office performance compared to other releases

Saiyaara is still the most popular anime at the box office, but First Steps was able to break through in metropolitan areas and with Marvel fans. The success of the film is lower than that of recent Hollywood movies like Superman and Jurassic World Rebirth, but it is higher than that of Thunderbolts, which had an opening of Rs. 3.85 crore earlier this year.

Predicting that the majority of the film's audience would be located in southern states and major cities, analysts had set the debut budget at ₹5 crore in India. Though the weekend figures will give a better view of the film's market hold, that prediction was correct. Some insiders speculate that positive word-of-mouth and Marvel's loyal fans could sustain the film's success at the box office.

Phase six begins with tease for future instalments

Fans are eagerly anticipating this film as the first in Marvel's Phase Six, following a string of disappointing box office performances. Another thing that has people talking is a mid-credit tease featuring Doctor Doom, which could increase interest in future Marvel Cinematic Universe titles.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps has a worldwide release and received varied but mostly positive reviews; now it needs a strong weekend to establish itself in the competitive theatre industry.
