The first teaser for Marvel's The Fantastic Four: First Steps has been released. Cast members include Pedro Pascal as Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as the Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as the Human Torch and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the Thing. The cast also features John Malkovich, Paul Walter Hauser, Natasha Lyonne, Julia Garner, and Ralph Ineson (who plays Galactus).
In addition to providing a glimpse into the lives of the heroes before and after they acquired their powers, the trailer also introduces us to the enemy, Galactus. Kirby states in the clip that whatever life throws at them, they face it together—as a family. This quote exemplifies the value of the Fantastic Four working together.
A retro-futuristic Manhattan from the 1960s will serve as the backdrop for this Fantastic Four installment. On The Official Marvel Podcast, Feige revealed that the film will take place in New York City during a historical period; however, he did mention that this New York City might differ from the one fans are familiar with from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Two films starring the Fantastic Four hit theatres prior to Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox. Since then, the studio has been working on introducing the Marvel heroes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, and Jamie Bell were cast in the 2015 catastrophic remake, following two films starring Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, and Michael Chiklis in the 2000s.
Evans, who is currently well recognised as the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Captain America, cleverly returned to his position as Human Torch in a brief appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine before being cruelly killed off. John Krasinski did the same thing in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, where he made a brief cameo as Mister Fantastic.
Written by Peter Cameron, Josh Friedman, and Jeff Kaplan, The Fantastic Four: First Steps is directed by Matt Shakman. Michael Giacchino has composed the score, Jess Hall is behind the cinematography, and Kevin Feige is the producer.
On July 25, cinemas will host the world premiere of The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
