The shooting of Rohan Sen’s family drama Subho Bijoya has started. The film that stars Bony Sengupta, Koushani Mukherjee, Kaushik Ganguly, Churni Ganguly and others delves into a family in North Kolkata. On Friday, the first look of the characters was released. The film is slated to release after Durga Puja.
Subho Bijoya is a story of a joint family in North Kolkata. In the film, Kaushik and Churni will be seen as Amartya and Bijoya – the heads of a North Kolkata bonedi family. Holding the family like glue is their older son and daughter-in-law, Aditya and Uma, essayed by the popular Bengali couple Bonny - Koushani This is the first time the audience will see the power-packed jodi of Bonny Sengupta and Koushani Mukherjee in a different avatar.
Other integral characters of the film are Akhilesh – Amartya’s brother, essayed by Kharaj Mukherjee, Aroti – Akhilesh’s wife, essayed by Manasi Sinha. Devtanu plays Ahan, the character of the family's younger son and Amrita De essays the character of Aditi, Adiya and Ahan's older sister and the eldest daughter of the Bonedi family.
The film sees how the extended family begins to become more and more fragmented. An incident forces the estranged family members to get back to the house. Relationships start to entwine. What happens next forms the crux of the story.
As the name suggests, Subho Bijoya has a Durga Puja setting. Keeping in mind the flavour of the film, the makers have scheduled to release it post Bijoya Dashami. The music of the film will be helmed by Anindya Chatterjee, Savvy and Ranajoy. Savvy will be seen lending the background music of the film. The camera will be headed by Manas Ganguly. The film will be edited by Sayantan Nag. Neo Studios, headed by Saptaswa Basu, will be the creative producer of the film.
