The Gilded Age S2 might be the one in which all previous unanswered questions will be resolved in the end. With more manipulation and less direct conflict, this season guarantees a slow-burn battle.
New York-period drama series The Gilded Age drops its second season Oct. 29 onwards
Last Updated: 05.14 AM, Oct 30, 2023
The title of the series is eponymous with the age it represents. Popularised by Mark Twain and Charles Dudley, The Gilded Age is a suitable name. Particularly referred to the Age between the 1870s to 1900, the period was characterized by the rapid growth of industries, urbanization, changing class structures, and a struggle between the rising rich and the established elite.
Streaming on HBO and MAX since 2022, the tale is mainly bifurcated into showing the navigating skills of Bertha Russell in the perilous social waters of 19th-century New York, and the initiation of innocent Marian Brook into the intricate maze of high society and her adventures. A carnival of romance, drama, and mysteries, the Downtown Abbey creator’s new series The Gilded Age spares no chance in entrancing its viewers.
The latest season of The Gilded Age has Marian teaching in a school, Peggy facing several personal and professional trials, beginning with racism, while Aunt Ada has a new love interest. On the other hand, Bertha Russell gets ahead in the ‘opera race’ by supporting the construction of New York’s Metropolitan Opera, to get ahead of Mrs Astor. Agnes Van Rhijn reveals the imminent arrival of nephew Dashiel Montgomery to the family, while George Russell is getting ready to delve deep into “some troublesome business in Pittsburgh.”
The second season’s new episodes will drop every Sunday, till the middle of December. As of now, there has been no affirmation from HBO or the writer Julian Fellowes regarding a third season. Perhaps, they are waiting to see Season Two’s reception among the audience before taking a final call.
