The Girlfriend is Rashmika Mandanna's new film that hit the screens on November 7, 2025, and opened to great reviews. However, the collections were not that strong, and the romantic drama has finally done in theaters and is soon set for its OTT streaming.

The makers are in the safe zone thanks to the OTT deal. We at OTTplay have already revealed that the digital rights were bagged by Netflix for Rs 14 crore, which is a decent amount for a female-centric film, and that too in Telugu cinema. 

As per the latest update, The Girlfriend will be available on Netflix on December 5, 2025. An official confirmation has been made by the team about the OTT streaming. There is a lot of waiting for this film as many did not watch the romantic drama in theaters. 

Rahul Ravindran directed this film, which also had Deekshith Shetty as the main lead. His performance in a negative role won the hearts of many. The way he shared a crackling chemistry with Rashmika Mandanna brought him a good name in the Telugu industry, and he is being flooded with offers as of now. 

Backed by Allu Aravind, The Girlfriend has been in the making for the last two years and was finally released to good word of mouth. Rashmika Mandanna played the role of a girl who is stuck in a toxic relationship. How she comes out of it and delivers a message to all young girls is the basic story of the film. Her performance, espcially in the climax won her rave reviews from critics, fans, and general audience.

Rahul Ravindran had the idea of making it into a web series but later changed it upon the suggestion of producer Allu Aravind.

The makers felt that having a big star in the lead role would make a significant difference and would help the film reach a wider audience. The same happened as Rashmika's presence in the film made a world of difference.
