Salman Khan gave an unexpected insight regarding his infamous Tere Naam look in the first episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 3, which premieres on Netflix today, June 21, 2025, at 8 pm, surprising both viewers and host Kapil Sharma.
The superstar discussed several of his films' most talked-about scenes during his solo appearance. The 2003 romantic drama Tere Naam has become a cult classic due to Salman's iconic performance and the film's intense emotional content. On the show, he discussed the inspiration for his long hairstyle in the film.
Salman stated while describing the appearance, "Yeh jo Tere Naam ka jo look hai, woh actually inspired tha Abdul Kalam saab se aur uss dauran I think Rahul Roy ka bhi same hairstyle tha. I thought ki jo small town hero hota hai na, unke humesha lambe baal hotey hai. The yesteryear heroes all had long hair; toh waha se ye aaya tha."
("This Tere Naam look was actually inspired by Abdul Kalam sir, and I think even Rahul Roy had a similar hairstyle at the time. I felt that small-town heroes always had long hair. The yesteryear heroes all had long hair, so the idea came from there.")
Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, the respected scientist and India's former president, was included as one of the style influences for Salman’s Radhe in the film, which caused the audience, including Kapil, to burst out laughing and seemed to surprise them.
Many people mistakenly believed that the hairdo was merely a creative decision reflecting the character's mood, but this behind-the-scenes information revealed a very different rationale, rooted in real-life individuals and vintage influences.
Season 3 of The Great Indian Kapil Show promises to be a good time thanks to the show's signature blend of humour, nostalgia, and surprising anecdotes. Tonight at 8 o'clock, you can watch the first episode on Netflix, which features Salman Khan as the first celebrity guest.
