It's time to decorate the galaxy with Christmas lights, gifts, trees, snowflakes, candy canes, and also Kevin Bacon. In The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, the Guardians travel to Earth in search of the ideal gift for Quill as part of their quest to make his Christmas spectacular.
Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, and Pom Klementieff are among the stars of The Marvel Studios' Special Presentation, which also stars Vin Diesel as Groot and Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Sean Gunn, and The Old 97's with Michael Rooker and Kevin Bacon.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special was written by and directed by James Gunn. The co-producers are David J. Grant and Lars P. Winther, while the executive producers are Kevin Feige, Louis D'Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Gunn, Sara Smith, and Simon Hatt.
Gunn and Bacon collaborated on the 2010 film Super, and Bacon has talked about how his name appears in Guardians. In an interview with Esquire from last year, the veteran actor said that when he went to see Guardians of the Galaxy, he didn't know that he was in it. It was an afternoon in New York, and as is customary for me, Bacon was on 67th Street. "Holy stuff," he thought. They're bringing up his name.
Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel Studios, first said that there would be a holiday special in December 2020. Along with Werewolf by Night, the special is part of Marvel's plans for Disney+ to show stories that are neither full-length movies nor full-length streaming series.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will debut on Disney+ Hotstar soon after Black Panther: Wakanda Forever comes out in theatres on November 25. The Guardians will return to the big screen in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which will be released on May 5, 2023.
